For centuries people have been creating functional items from gourds. Gourd artifacts have been found dating back as far as the 1700's. There's good reason for this.... Not only are they naturally beautiful, gourds are also extremely durable. Qualities which also make them the perfect medium for the creative artist. Once dried, a gourd can be crafted using techniques similar to those used with wood. They can be pyroengraved (woodburned), painted, carved, etc.
All of my work is pyroengraved and the color you see is either leather dye, oil pencil, or water color. Please enjoy viewing my gallery and feel free to email me with your comments.
